Think I need to man up! I just put in a fitted wardrobe against a wall and removed a strip of skirting fixed in exactly the same way as yours.

I armed myself with a small pry bar, but before I got stuck in I got a flat blade scraper to run along and down the back of the skirting and it virtually fell off.
