High school rotc navy program

They can apply for the Navy, Marine Corps, or Nurse scholarship program. Students with 30 or more college semester credits or 45 quarter credits cannot apply for a four-year scholarship, but may qualify for the two- or three-year option.

Scholarship applicants must major in a Navy ROTC-approved subject such as mechanical engineering, systems engineering, astrophysics, or oceanography. Recipients get a textbook stipend and a monthly subsistence allowance that increases each year of college. Scholarship recipients must commit to three to five years of active-duty military service depending on which Navy ROTC program option they choose Navy, Marine Corps, or Nurse.

Navy ROTC requirements include a normal academic workload and a naval science curriculum. Students learn leadership principles and what it means to be a military officer. Navy ROTC participants follow the same academic schedule and can graduate in the same time as a traditional student. In between school years, Navy ROTC participants engage in training activities that help them understand military life and potential career options after graduation.

Summer training sessions explore topics like nuclear power, afloat aviation, and foreign exchanges with navies from other countries. The curriculum includes a mix of regular college classes, Air Force courses that cover combat techniques and leadership studies, and military training exercises.

Air Force ROTC cadets receive scholarships in exchange for agreeing to serve in the military after graduating. The Air Force gives scholarships to high school students, college students, and currently enlisted personnel. Scholarship requirements vary for each type of applicant. AFROTC prefers applicants with majors in specific foreign languages or in technical areas like aeronautical engineering, aerospace engineering, and biomedical engineering.

The Air Force awards several different types of ROTC scholarships to high school and college students and enlisted personnel. Some pay full tuition and fees, a monthly living stipend, and a book allowance. AFROTC participants continue to receive educational opportunities and leadership training while serving in the military.

Cadets spend two years completing the general military course and compete for a spot in the professional officer course during their second year in the program. AFROTC cadets receive military training while in college and participate in a variety of group activities, including community service, formal functions, and Color or Honor Guard.

Between their sophomore and junior year, cadets complete a two-week field training camp that includes weapons training, aircraft orientation flights, and physical conditioning.

The number of required years of active duty depends on career path, but most receive a four-year active-duty service commitment. Pilots receive a year service commitment and air battle managers and combat systems officers must serve six years.

Students should weigh the pros and cons of applying for ROTC colleges. Participating in ROTC can lead to substantial academic funding, making it possible to earn a degree completely tuition-free and without accumulating a large debt. ROTC scholarships are not retroactive, so the sooner you decide to apply, the better.

ROTC graduates skip entry-level positions after finishing school, moving right into management and leadership roles as officers in the U. They continue to develop versatile leadership skills while completing their military service, which civilian employers frequently prize.

Scholarship recipients must also devote years to mandatory military service after graduation. As enlisted members of the military, they run the risk of being deployed while serving. This is a big commitment that students should not take lightly. The goal of the Northeast Guilford High School NJROTC program is to provide an opportunity for students to learn about the basic areas of leadership, honor, courage, commitment and discipline.

To prepare cadets for continuing their education after graduation. To have and utilize an active mentor program where students will peer mentor with other students and utilize the SNSI and SNI for mentorship and supervision. A certificate of completion for the appropriate level of the NJROTC curriculum will be presented to each successful cadet at the end of the school year.

Enlistment benefits include; students earning a Three-year Completion Certificate, a letter of recommendation from the SNSI, and entitlement to receive a pay grade of E-3 upon initial enlistment in active or reserve component of the Army, Navy, or Air Force, and pay grade of E-2 in the Marine Corps; or completion of two years earn a Two-year Completion Certificate, a letter of recommendation from the SNSI, and entitlement to E-2 except in the Marine Corps and Air Force.

The Senior Naval Science Instructor is authorized to nominate a maximum of three eligible cadets each year to compete for U. Selection boards for these scholarships start convening in August of the year prior to college enrollment and conclude in January for fall enrollment.

It is best to get your application in early which will increase your likelihood of finding out whether you have been selected. If you were not selected for a 4 year scholarship, recently learned about NROTC or a current student with more than 6 semesters remaining, you can participate in the College Program.

The program curriculum is exactly the same, scholarship or college program, the only difference is that "College Programmers" do not receive any financial benefits. College programmers who receive these three or two-year scholarships and are entitled to full tuition and student fee payment, a tax-free living stipend and a semester book stipend in addition to other great benefits just as if they received a 4 year scholarship right out of high school.

You must apply to both, separately. If you are in your junior or senior year of college and are interested in becoming an officer, all hope is not lost.
